Load More ProductsSherpa 4x4 offer a large range of quality 4WD accessories at reasonable prices. Every product is spec'd by our Engineer and thoroughly tested before being offered to you. With a range including everything from recovery kits to driving lights to winch cable.
A practical kit starts with equipment that solves the most common problems: tyre pressure management, recovery and electrical faults. A quality compressor, tyre gauge or deflator, rated recovery points, soft shackles, recovery rope or winch extension strap, tree trunk protector and winch damper cover most basic recovery scenarios. Vehicles fitted with a winch should also carry a suitable snatch block or recovery ring so a double-line pull or change of direction is possible. Add spare fuses, basic electrical tools, gloves and a torch. The right kit depends on the vehicle and trip—beach touring prioritises rapid tyre inflation and deflation, while remote towing or heavy touring may justify heavier recovery gear, additional compressor hose and more substantial electrical spares.
Look for a clearly stated working rating or minimum breaking strength from a reputable manufacturer and make sure the complete recovery system is matched, not just one component. The rope, shackles, hitch, tree protector, winch, vehicle recovery points and any pulley device all need suitable capacity. A very strong soft shackle does not make an unrated factory tie-down point safe for recovery. Avoid joining recovery gear through a tow ball, light-duty transport loop or other attachment not designed for the load. Dynamic recoveries create substantially different forces from steady winching, so equipment intended for static winch anchoring should not automatically be used for kinetic recovery. If any component is damaged, contaminated or has an unknown history, replace or professionally assess it before relying on it.
Recovery equipment is designed to free a stuck or immobilised vehicle, often under high and variable loads. Towing equipment is designed to control a vehicle or trailer that is already mobile. A kinetic recovery rope, winch extension strap or tree trunk protector has a specific recovery purpose and should not be substituted for a rated tow system unless the manufacturer explicitly permits it. Sherpa's tree trunk protector, for example, is intended as a static recovery anchor and is not designed for lifting or towing. Similarly, receiver recovery hitches should be used only within the rating of both the hitch and the vehicle's receiver. Keeping each accessory to its intended task reduces the temptation to improvise during a stressful recovery.
Clean mud, sand and salt from equipment before storage and let textile gear dry naturally out of direct heat. Synthetic ropes and soft shackles should be checked for cuts, melted fibres, glazing and embedded grit; steel hardware should be inspected for distortion, corrosion and damaged threads. Air hoses should be drained and coiled without tight kinks, and electrical connectors kept dry and protected from dirt. Avoid leaving recovery ropes permanently compressed under heavy tools where they can be contaminated by oils or sharp edges. A dedicated recovery bag keeps critical items together and makes pre-trip inspection easier. After beach or marine use, rinse exposed metal parts with fresh water and inspect battery or Anderson-style connections for salt corrosion.
Start with the exact model and voltage of the winch, compressor or electrical product. Wireless remotes, control boxes, solenoids, plugs, hoses and adaptors may look similar but use different connectors, switching arrangements or pressure ratings. For winch gear, also check rope diameter, fairlead type and the rating of shackles or recovery rings. For air accessories, confirm hose and quick-connect standards as well as working pressure. For electrical accessories, match voltage, current rating and connector size. The easiest way to identify older equipment is to photograph the model label and the existing plug or component before ordering. Genuine replacement parts are particularly important for controls and load-bearing winch components where an approximate physical fit may still be electrically or mechanically wrong.
